History Series 6: Stephen Kinzer / MK Ultra / Sidney Gottlieb & The CIA / "Poisoner in Chief" Book

Stephen Kinzer is an award-winning foreign correspondent who has covered more than 50 countries on five continents. His articles and books have led the Washington Post to place him “among the best in popular foreign policy storytelling.” A former New York Times correspondent, he has published several books and writes for several newspapers and news agencies.

His most recent book, Poisoner in Chief, is about the secret CIA program MK-Ultra, and Sidney Gottlieb, the scientist overseeing the program.

In July 2026, Kinzer testified in front of Congress regarding the MK-Ultra program for the House Oversight Committee’s Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets.
